This song continues to comfort me any time I need it. In my toughest times, the song felt like a warm embrace and still does. When I heard Sam sing it live at the 2023 Gloria tour in Amsterdam, I, of course, balled my eyes out. At Pinkpop 2024, when Sam and LaDonna sang together, I got so emotional again. Thank you, Sam, for your music, particularly for 'lay me down,' my favorite song of all time. (It will always make me cry and have a place in my heart)
