i've liked the song for years now, since last december 2023 the meaning of the song changed for me. i heard lay me down on the radio when i was driving from work to see my father for the last time. My mum had called me a few minutes earlier to tell that i should leave right away in order to make it. it was a crisp, sunny winter monday and i was crying with so many feelings going through me and my mind. my dad passed away that day, i got to spend his last moments with him holding his hand.
